Located just north of Washington, DC, Baltimore holds many charms for visitors of any age.
The most popular area for tourists is the Inner Harbor area. Here one will find an array of accommodations like the upscale Harbor Court Hotel and the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel to the more economical Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Inner Harbor.
The Inner Harbor area offers shopping galore!
Harborplace & The Gallery (www.harborplace.com) are great places to enjoy the harbor views while finding unique items at its multitude of shops. Harborplace also provides many well known dining venues, such as Phillips Seafood Restaurant and The Cheesecake Factory as well as local favorites Edo Sushi and Tir Na Nog Restaurant & Irish Pub.
The world famous National Aquarium (www.aqua.org) can also be found in the Inner Harbor. A wide variety of aquatic mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds await you as this attraction features more than 16,500 animals. Be sure to take in the dolphin show.
On the other side of the harbor, you will find the Maryland Science Center (http://www.mdsci.org/.) This venue is filled with many hands on exhibits for both young and old. Don’t miss the Planetarium or the Imax Theatre here.
For dinner, take a trip to Little Italy (http://www.littleitalymd.com/ .) From the Inner Harbor, you can make your way to this wonderful ethnic neighborhood by water taxi, by walking across the canal bridges or by a romantic horse-drawn carriage. Once there, your senses will be overwhelmed by the aromas wafting from all of the incredible restaurants.
In the summertime, take in a ballgame at historic Camden Yards, home to the Baltimore Orioles (http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=bal .) Nothing beats a warm night, cold beer and a crab cake sandwich!
