Best Baby Retailers

Most moms would agree it’s harder to resist buying things for your kids than for yourself. When shopping for baby, try not to buy too much and avoid products that only seem greener or better, especially in the skin care and food aisles. And remember, even though these three stores have made big green commitments, the best and cheapest thing you can do is hit the classifieds, either in your neighborhood or online. Places like Ebay and Craiglist will probably offer even more to choose from than the retailers’ websites.
THE CHEAPEST: Walmart. Walmart had the best price on organic baby food, and if you use the site-to-store option, you can score some discounted and eco-friendly big ticket items.
THE GREENEST: Babies-R-Us. BRU will make it easier for you to buy green items on impulse. Get your breast pump and bottles, soaps and lotions, plus any toys, clothes, and bedding you want to buy new.
THE BEST: Babies-R-Us/Walmart. No matter how frugal and resourceful you are, being a mom requires some degree of shopping. Even if you breastfeed and make your own baby food, you’ll still have to buy bottles and little jars now and then, plus soaps and lotions, diapers and wipes, and if you bring the kids with you, new toys. Babies-R-Us and Walmart are good resources for some of those items.
