Exercise…the BEST way to combat stress

People have often asked me how I find the way to lead such a busy life.  Some have said that it is because I have a husband, or that something suffers in my life.  Truthfully, it is none of these things, nor is it very scientific.  I have learned through the years that to be my very best (which is what we should all be striving to do) I have to develop certain routines in my life that keep me effective.  The first thing I do is exercise, and it is my #1 priority in my day.

Many times when I talk to moms, they mention that they don’t have time for exercise.  However when pressed further, I find that they are up-to-date on the lives of Atlanta’s Housewives, Jersey Shore or American Idol.  I also find some of them “dilly-dallying” their way through the day with mindless routines that only serve as distractions.  As much as I enjoy catching up with old friends on Facebook, it does not come as a sacrifice to my workout routine.

Secondly, many moms will find that when they make time for exercise, their entire day becomes less stressful, and they will feel more in control.  This is what we should all strive to feel.  We need to learn how to create rituals of fitness so that our health can rise to new levels.  Get a girlfriend and hit the pavement for a run or walk and find that you feel more in control and energized to take on life’s stressful twists and turns.

Moms, so plan to make exercise the most important part of your day.  That’s the most important thing we can do for ourselves.

Be well!
