Year of the Healthy Mom
2/6/2010

Since starting the Take Care Project in 2007, I’ve noticed a few trends in women’s health.
In 2007, it seemed as though moms became the “it” demographic, I.e., businesses were scrambling to get a hold of the power of moms. Blogging was the preferred method of communication for moms looking to make a difference, and people took notice.
2008 proved to be the year of the “bouncing back from pregnancy mom” where countless magazine covers profiled new Hollywood moms and their bodies after baby. The media was in love with the sight of moms, and therefore it seemed as though anywhere you looked, you saw headlines with the word “baby” plastered all over.
However there was a shift in 2009 as moms seemed to be frustrated. I listened as mothers detailed their frustrations with their looks, bodies, relationships and jobs. I grew increasingly concerned with the rise in prescription drug abuse, most specifically with moms who took their children’s ADHD medication as energy supplements. Something had to be done. And since I’m the founder of the only company dedicated to a mother’s health, I decided to do something about it. Welcome to the Year of the Healthy Mom.
