Taking Care: My Story

Welcome to the Take Care Project!  For those of you who were members of the old site, welcome back!  To the new members, I look forward to growing and learning with you.  This business, one that is dedicated to the health and wellness of mothers has been a vision of mine since 2006.

In 2006 I was at a crossroads in my career, marriage and self.  Although I had a great career, my marriage was crumbling, and I had begun to shift further and further away from my center.  I had always been a sharp dresser; but more often than not, I found myself reaching for the mom uniform of unshapely jeans, grey t-shirts and tennis shoes.  I pulled my hair back into a disheveled ponytail, and kept it movin'.  My family walked around on eggshells, and I found myself increasingly annoyed by my young son.  I did excel at work though.  I held the second-highest position in my squadron and won all kinds of awards and opportunities to excel.  Then I crashed.  HARD!  I began to forget everything, my hair shed in handfuls, and missed periods were the norm.  I had near-daily allergy attacks brought on by stress and arguments at home became a daily occurrence.  It was time for a change.

I looked at my body in the mirror and didn't recognize myself.  How did I gain 10 pounds?  I put myself on the road to healing by taking care of myself first.   I started to keep my health in check by eating right, doing daily fitness activities, spending time alone, having fun with my family and instead of clocking 4 hours of sleep every night, I changed it to 6 (still working on that one).

I know several of you are in the same boat.  Balancing family with life and work among other things.  Therefore this blog is going to be about transforming and taking care of you, the "balanced mom."

Be well!
